Bad Idea

I am so tempted to say this is 5 stars but I have a niggle that is keeping me from going balls to the wall about it and I don’t know why.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the story and I can’t wait to read the next in the series but I think it was the cliff-hanger that scuppered me and that surprises me because normally they don’t bother me but I think I was so engrossed in the story that when it all came to an end I felt almost deflated.
Anyway, for all that it matters this is as close to a 5-star read as you are going to get!
Nico is a grafter, a down to earth guy who’s never had anything handed to him on a plate, growing up he learnt that sacrifices must be made and that has led to the fact that he is the one providing for his family. He works hard to make sure that he does the best he can by them but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t long to have a little time for himself.
Layla couldn’t be more different, her family oozes money and she has been brought up with the privilege of wealth but is she the quintessential spoilt rich kid or is there more to her than meets the eye?
There was so much angst surrounding this pair, the differences between them made it almost impossible to see where they were going to find some common ground and it also meant that there were plenty of people who were waiting for them to fall.
It was obvious that the author poured her heart and soul into this book, you could literally feel the emotion seeping through the pages, I was left open mouthed and agog on numerous occasions and totally blown away at others. I was desperate to see them get a realistic shot at being together but I didn’t know if that was unabashed enthusiasm or just plain stupidity…we are yet to see.
I finished the book with a WTF feeling and a desperate look to see when the next book will be available.
Confession time: There are few books that leave me feeling as unsettled as I did when I finished this story and that is a good thing, life needs a good kick up the butt every now and then and this was a break from everything I thought it was going to be, so I have to say to the author…Thank You
