For the love of English by AM Hargrove
From the get go there was something special about this book, a feeling that just can’t really be put into words. I didn’t know how I was going to like this story I just knew that I was and I didn’t just like it…I loved it, it was beautiful, emotional, funny and sincere.
My first impression of Beck wasn’t what I would call impressive but once he hit his stride there wasn’t a bone in his body that I hadn’t fallen in love with. He life revolved around the one thing in his life he never knew he either wanted or needed until she turned up on his doorstep, until the day his baby girl was left with him and he went from carefree singleton to single parent in the blink of an eye.
But with the love of his family he had raised his child, his spirited, intelligent child to be the most adorable little thing I have ever read, the author brought a personality out in her that just leapt from the page, she was enchanting!
There was nothing that Beck wouldn’t do for English, absolutely nothing but when his relationship with her is put at risk he has to think fast and decision made in haste have a habit of coming back to haunt you…but would Sheridan be one of those or had this pair always been meant for greater things from the start?
I think you get my drift when I said earlier how wonderful English was, well put all of that into a grown up and you would have Sheridan. She was such a fabulous woman, with an empathy and kindness that defied the fact that she was fictional. Yes, her initial meeting with Beck was far from easy but she stood her ground and was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
She could see the love that was shared between the two of them and I think she found that almost joyous. She wanted something like the relationship that Beck and English, somewhere down the line in her future …but would she want Beck and English????
They try to skirt around the way they feel towards each other but it was always going to be a battle they would lose, in the end their hearts knew what was best for them even before the rest of them caught up and boy did they catch up!
I don’t want to give too much away but I think from the blurb you will have already surmised the gist of the story, the fact that Beck is facing an uncertainty that he just cannot accept and that he is willing to do whatever he can to make sure that his daughter in exactly where she needs to be, with him but will his family be complete? Will Sheridan take her place?
This is a great read, one you just must pick up it is fantastic.
