NOTHING BUT TROUBLE
by Amy Andrews
I am a huge fan of a sports romance, so I had a hankering that I was going to love this from the very beginning, what I didn’t realise was just how much. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it was that spoke to me, all I can say is that I absolutely loved the interaction and banter between Cecilia (aka CC) and Wade.
CC was the glue that had held Wade’s life together for so long, his girl Friday, the woman that does everything he needs but that he quite simply doesn’t seem to see for anything other than the fact that she makes sure he doesn’t have to do for himself.
He might have fancied his chances with her but that didn’t mean he was willing to take that step, he had too much to lose after all keeping his life organised without her would be virtually impossible, she keeps him on the straight and narrow! But standing back may be the safe option up until now because a trip home has him feeling totally conflicted because it doesn’t take long for him to have to face up to the fact that there are others that see CC for a whole lot more than he is willing to admit and the hint of jealousy is hilarious.
But this retired quarterback had a few powerplays up his sleeve and wasn’t quite ready to throw in the towel on a long-held fascination.
The switch up from a business connection to an emotional connection was handled fabulously, I adored the small-town setting, it seemed to make the whole story more personable. Wade and Cc were great characters, but I liked that the author didn’t leave them to carry the whole story, she gave me a superb cast of secondary characters.
A super sweet read that was totally captivating, left me with a huge smile on my face.
