Take a Chance

I read the first book in the series and really enjoyed it so I was hoping for another treat when I picked up this, book two and I have to say that I was not disappointed.
I thought the way the author wove the lives of Sean and Zoe and also Jessica and Noah together was handled fabulously.
I was so absorbed by the way that Sean and Zoe were engaged, working together deliciously to unravel the mystery of what was going on in her father’s life and that quest brought them and unexpected result …a relationship that for two intelligent people they didn’t appear to see on the horizon. I thought that was a clever ploy by the author because their almost blind ambivalence gave me the opportunity to fully explore whether they could really fulfil what each other needed and would they be able to work through the secrets that they both held so deeply…there were a lot of layers to unravel in this relationship and I had my fingers crossed that they would be able to see past eth smoke and find a way to make them work…but it was far from a certainty.
With Jessica and Noah, the story is a whole different ballgame because they have a past, one that Jessica would be happy to leave in their past but now that Noah is back, he is determined to get answers to what happened between the two of them, but would that desire to unearth where they went so wrong before bringing them back together or is it just the final death rattle of a relationship that should continue to be resigned to the history books?
I thought the author was poignant in the portrayal of just what it takes to not only get but deserve a second chance, of showing what it truly takes to not only forgive but to forget which isn’t as easy as it may seem. Both couples had choices to make…the only decision I cared about was would they make those decision together or not!
